Julio Bashmore

Featured Artist: Julio Bashmore

Last week I had the pleasure of partying in Ibiza, Spain for 3-4 days and all I can say is that it was one of the most unique experiences I have had in a long time.  One thing that I noticed immediately was how many British people were vacationing there. It seemed like 50% of the people I met or indirectly heard talking were from the UK. Evidently I was curious as to why Ibiza was such a hot spot for the British, I proceeded to ask a couple of ‘bloaks’ at the DC10 ‘Paradise’ party as to why this was the case. They said it was because Ibiza is only a 2 hour flight from London, and that the party scene/music on the island is on another level. After speaking with them I began to connect the dots and understand the reason for the popularity of Ibiza.

Since Ibiza is home to an abundance of travelers from the UK, obviously the promoters try to bring in as much UK talent as possible to appease the audience. Throughout my time in Ibiza, the one artist that I heard over and over again no matter where I went was Julio Bashmore. His music was ubiquitous, and I heard him at least once at any club/ party I went to. I personally loved this trend, as I am huge Julio Bashmore fan and I rarely hear his music being played in Canada. In light of constantly hearing his music being played on my trip, I thought it was only fair to give him a feature on HOL.

Have a listen to our favourite Julio tracks below, starting with the most significant one ‘Battle for Middle You’ (One of the tracks that started the Deep House resurgence).
