Last night we caught Sampha’s first live show in Toronto at the Drake Underground and Kelsey Lu was the opener. Before last night’s show we had never heard her music before and so we went in with no expectations. To sum it up she killed it last night, and really made a lasting impression on us. I’ve personally never been so captivated by a live musician before, it literally felt like she had control over the whole audience. Her performance was also particularly striking because of her live set up. All she had was a cello. some minimal backing tracks, and her voice. she was the perfect opener for Sampha, who played an amazing performance in his own right.
