2017 was a great year for music overall.
The Hip Hop Rap genre had a pretty quiet 2017, however there were some standouts such as Kendrick’s ‘DAMN’, Smino’s ‘blkswn’, Tyler’s ‘Flower Boy’, and the breakout of Brockhampton with their Saturation trilogy.
The Electronic genre had a electric year with Sampha’s debut album ‘Process’, Thundercat’s ‘Drunk’, and Bonobo’s ‘Migration’.
The R&B genre also had a great year with two new emerging stars, Daniel Caesar’s ‘Freudian’, and SZA’s ‘Ctrl”.
Last but not least, the Indie genre had a solid year as well with Mac Demarco’s ‘This Old Dog’.
All in all my favourite album of the year was Sampha’s ‘Process’. I have listened to that album hundreds of times front to back and I still haven’t gotten bored for it.
