Christian Nielsen burst onto the underground house scene last year with the dance floor smasher “Do You Mind”. An absolute heater, we’ve heard this track in nearly every club played by nearly every House DJ. Following up with tracks like “Need That Something” and “Another Day”, as well as remixes for Jesse Rose, Romanthony and Bontan; it’s clear to see he’s well on his way to becoming one of the undergrounds’ top upcoming DJ’s and producers. We had a chance to chat with the man and ask him 10 questions on music production, his influences and the current state of dance music. Here’s what he had to say:

Favourite gig you’ve ever played? – Oh thats a hard one! Boat Party in Cyprus for LOST, Suicide Circus, Berlin for KAPUTT and pretty much all the Play It Down parties around the world! But in general I’ve only had an amazing gigs, and met amazing people!

Favourite DJ to watch/ listen at the moment? – There are so many but I think Matthias Tanzmann is one of my favorites! And pretty much all DJs playing for Dekmantel too… Must say I really do enjoy a classic Jesse Rose & Oliver Dollar B2B!

What is your favorite plugin/VST at the moment? – Normally I would write some cool synth VST or something, but going to go with the Chris Lord – Alge Signature Series. I use it on pretty much every channel in my tracks.

Where did the vocal come from on your breakthrough hit “Do You Mind”? – Can’t tell you. I would have to kill you then! 🙂 My dirty little secret 🙂

Favourite track at the moment? – Ohhh so many! But pretty much anything coming out of Adam Beyers Truesoul label is killing my ears!

Who is your biggest musical inspiration? – So hard to say. I have my favorite Dj’s and producers, but my inspiration comes from many places. From travelling, gigs, work and just life in general. I can be walking down the street and hear a sound and BAM I’m inspired!

Do you have any upcoming collaborations? – No not at the moment. Right now I’m just focusing on loads of new originals and an album.

Favourite album of all time? – Ummm, hard to say but an album I always find myself coming back to is: Incubus – Morning View… Freaking love Brandon Boyds voice!

Thoughts and opinion on the current state/direction of the House genre? – You hear loads of rants and shit going on at the moment. Loads of beefs and old school vs. new-school battles going on. To be honest, it seems to me that house music is doing better than ever! I don’t mind house music going mainstream and I don’t mind people making up their own genres. It seems to me that even though things are moving super fast in house music, the underground seems to stand their ground and able to redefine itself and stay interesting! Rants come from people who are insecure and scared of change.

How long have you been producing/making music? – Well I’ve been making music since 2010 maybe even 2009, and what a trip it has been 🙂 Lets hope for many more!
