Admittedly we used to be huge fans of Disclosure a couple of years ago, but since the release of their second album we have strayed far away from their music. During the first couple of years of Disclosure’s rise to fame, their music was innovative, progressive, and definitely UK inspired. Nothing at the time sounded remotely similar to them, and therefore they were quite unknown to the average music listener. I remember 4 years ago they released one mix that had huge impact on the electronic music scene in particular:
Looking back on FACT Mix #327, the reason why it stands out so much in our memory is because it was the midpoint between Disclosure’s Underground era and their Mainstream debut. When that mix came out in 2011, Progressive House/ Electro bangers were still the shit, and the sickly EDM genre that is on it’s death bed today was starting to grow and morph into a massive billion dollar industry. I remember when we used to put on Disclosure during that period, and people would immediately tell us to change it because it was too slow.
Fast forward to the present and Disclosure has almost the equivalent popularity of today’s pop stars (Justin Bieber, Skrillex, Lorde). Their 2nd album ‘Caracal’ was underwhelming to say the least, and was obviously meant to appeal to the mainstream pop audience. Their sophomore effort was dissapointing and unfortunate, but we believe they still have the ability to craft unique music if they choose to. This week they released a surprise EP “Moog For Love” and we were pleasntly surprised by it. Maybe they still got it?! Check out their new track “Moog For Love” featuring Eats Everything below. Their EP is also now available on all the major streaming platforms as well.
