On Monday August 7th, The Electric Island series returns for it’s 3rd weekend of 2017 at the Portlands in Toronto. In our opinion this one has the best lineup of 2017 so far for the Electric Island series.

Kink (Live) should be reason enough to make your way to the Portlands on August 7th, 2017. Coincidentally last year we saw him on August 6th, 2016 play his “Live” set at Toronto’s Time Festival and it was honestly one of the best sets we saw in 2016. When Kink plays a “Live” set he literally builds the tracks from scratch using various instruments. For example last year at Time Festival he started off with a simple kick drum from his drum machine, after 16 beats he then added a clap, then hi hats, and then he pulled out a soul vinyl and looped it to create the underlying melody for the track. With the ubiquitous amount of CDJ DJ’s out there who just merely press play and sync the BPM, it was so refreshing to see a House set played with Live instruments. Therefore just to reiterate again, if you are a fan of House music YOU MUST SEE KINK LIVE!

Not to be overlooked, August 7th’s Electric Island also is bringing the UK’s Jackmaster who is notorious for playing sets with unique and surprising records, Russian Techno vixen Nina Kraviz, ‘four to the floor’ kingpin Deetron, and last but not least Stone Throw’s modern funk pioneer Dâm-Funk.
