Movement Detroit – Memorial Day 2016

We left Toronto for Movement early Saturday morning, stopping in Brantford to SLAM Tim Hortons. Got into Detroit around noon, picked up our credentials and checked into our hotel. We stopped at some commercial centre to buy shades and eat, Kyle got a hat. We linked up with friends from home at their hotel and headed to the festival grounds.

The will call line was much shorter than last year, and was a more organized affair in general. Bar and washroom lines were well handled, fast, and we got around without any issues. We headed straight to the Beatport pyramid to catch the end of Guti’s set. After that we went over to Kyle Hall for a quick snooze. It was chill because we could sit in the grass at the RedBull stage, and we basically had Canadian cell service the whole time so we were blasting mad snaps.

We stopped off at the main stage for a bit to catch troxler, he was kinda shit and the sound was way too bassy so we zipped back to the Pyramid for the set that I was most anticipating: Davide Squillace. He played an up-beat, smasher tech set which was great in the sun by the water. After that we went back to the Red-bull stage for Kenny Dope.

The sun started to set and four-tet got on, this was a fucking aquatic experience. Some dude from Chicago smoked us on a big ass blunt and shit got loose as fuck. Probably the best set of the weekend. We gripped a couple IDs from his set, but my favourite was when he played his own alias track Percussions – Khlhi and smashed di place.

After Tet some of our crew went home but the HOL boys weren’t done yet. We headed back to the Beatport stage to watch Nic Faniculli BEAT it up for another hour or so. We headed back to our freinds’ hotel and pre’d a bit before heading to the Detroit Masonic temple for the after party in the dungeon with Dubfire and Seth Troller playing b2b. The next day we slammed a couple slim jims down at the Detroit Ham Shoppe, and got the fuck outta dodge.
